Joanna M. Weston

I live on a fault line
earthquakes expected
any day  any time
yet waiting for them
consumes no time at all

I linger over the movement
of bees and ants
watch the explosion
of sunsets
absorbed in daily events

yet my cousin
was in Ecuador
when the first major
shake rumbled through

he came home
with a tremor
in his thoughts
where the hotel
tumbled about him
